Boston – (January 3, 2017) – Mr. Gregory S. Bates has joined GID as its Chief Operating Officer, a newly created-position at GID.  Greg is a seasoned real estate professional having spent the last five years at privately-owned Building and Land Technology (“BLT”) in Stamford, CT where he successfully developed, launched and managed BLT’s third-party real estate private equity platform. Prior to BLT, Greg worked at GE Capital Real Estate in various capacities over a 17-year span. While there, Greg initiated GE Real Estate’s third-party investment management business and was responsible for their investment strategy, new fund launches, capital raising and fund performance for the Americas. Prior to those responsibilities, Greg created a new vertically-integrated platform and built a 47-person team to source and manage value-add investments as part of GE’s principal business. Prior to that, and of particular relevance to GID, Greg spent four years managing the multifamily sector for GE.

As the Chief Operating Officer of GID, Greg will sit on GID’s Executive Committee and Investment Committees. His primary responsibilities will include managing the Portfolio and Asset Management Group; sourcing new equity capital partner relationships and managing the ongoing relationship with GID’s existing institutional equity capital partners; providing direct management oversight of GID’s hedge fund businesses; and investigating and recommending new business line investments for GID.

Greg graduated from the Harvard Business School in 2000 and Dartmouth College in 1994.
